Two Benefit Concerts for Bianca Butthole of Betty Blowtorch (1/15 and 2/12)

Two benefit concerts are taking place for Bianca Halstead (aka Bianca Butthole), lead singer / bass player for BETTY BLOWTORCH who was killed in a car accident in New Orleans in the early morning on 12/15/01. Halstead (36) - who was previously in the band Butt Trumpet before forming Betty Blowtorch in 1998 - was a passenger in a car driven by a fan that went out of control while travelling at a high rate of speed en route to the band's hotel. The driver as well as an additional motorist were hospitalized. Halstead died at the scene. The band was on tour with Nashville Pussy and had played a show at The Howling Wolf Club earlier that evening.
The first benefit concert will take place in Hollywood, CA. at The Dragonfly on Tuesday, January 15th. Performing live will be: SuperBees, Motochrist, Texas Terri & The Stiff Ones, The Pleasure Seekers, Faster Pussycat and Coyote Shivers as well as an All-Star band formed especially for the event.
Bianca's bandmate Blaire N. Bitch (Betty Blowtorch) will be performing in the All-Star band which will also feature Jeremy Thompson (Nashville Pussy), Frank Mayer (Street Walkin' Cheetahs), Jennifer Finch (ex-L7 / Other Star People), Charlie Paulsen (Goldfinger), Taime Downe (Faster Pussycat /Newlydeads), Texas Terri and Casper (Coyote Shivers / Pleasure Seekers). A few additional surprise guests are expected to join in as well.
The All-Star band will perform a few Betty Blowtorch songs as well as some of Bianca's favorite rock and punk rock classics.
Tickets are $15 at the door. (21 and over) Doors open at 8:00pm. Show starts 8:30pm.
A New York memorial concert will be held on Tuesday, February 12th, at Club Luxx in Brooklyn - the venue that hosted the bands last NY show. Bands booked to perform include Firegods (featuring Sean from the Toilet Boys), Bantam (featuring Gina of the Lunachicks), Candyass, The Humanoids,Supagroup, Angel Rot, Bad Wizard, The Munts and a special re-union show by Helldorado - featuring Nashville Pussy bassist Tracy Almazan and Blaire N. Bitch of Betty Blowtorch. Other special guests are expected to be added.
Tickets are $8 at the door (21 and over). Show starts 8pm.
All proceeds from the shows will go to assist Bianca's family with funeral and burial arrangements.
Betty Blowtorch's CD "Are You Man Enough?" was released 6/5/01 on Foodchain Records.
